Blood Flow Restriction Therapy
Blood flow restriction (BFR) therapy at Advantage Physical Therapy is offered for patients recovering from a range of different injuries. This method helps patients regain strength in injured or weak muscles while reducing the stress put on the limb.
What Does Blood Flow Restriction Help Treat?
Patients recovering from any of the following (and others) might be able to benefit from BFR rehabilitation:
Knee ligament reconstructions
Rotator cuff repairs
Severe musculoskeletal trauma
Symptomatic knee osteoarthritis
Knee cartilage repairs
Total joint replacement
DON’T SETTLE FOR TREATMENT BY A TECH OR AIDE. AT ADVANTAGE PHYSICAL THERAPY & WELLNESS ALL PATIENT CARE IS PERFORMED BY A LICENSED PHYSICAL THERAPIST!
How Does BFR Therapy Work?
At Advantage Physical Therapy we use BFR Smartcuff technology to add compression to a limb, reducing the blow flow up to 80% to selected muscles. By moving the muscles in this state of oxygen deprivation, we are able to promote an anabolic response to promote muscle growth.
By restricting the blood flow to a recovering muscle group, we stimulate the body’s natural healing and tissue building process.
This process is safe and effective. Both the military and professional sports team often use BFR therapy to increase muscle strength and speed recovery after surgery.
