How Does Laser Therapy Work?
Cold laser therapy works by flooding the effected tissue with photons. These photons stimulate healing by increasing circulation to the area. This enhances the body’s natural healing response and for many patients proves pain relief, improved functionality, and reduced swelling.
Another benefit of laser therapy that the treatment continues to provide healing after your appointment. The metabolic effect of your treatment will continue to promote healing to your injury for up to 24 hours after your therapy session.
Class 3B vs IV Lasers
At Advantage Physical Therapy, we use a Chattanooga Intellect 3B laser for our laser therapy treatments. Class 3B lasers are safer, cost less, follow stringent regulations, and their benefits for tissue repair and pain has been widely researched.
To this point, Class IV lasers are using Class 3B research to promote their benefits. The higher wavelength these lasers use penetrates less into the injured tissue than the 3B.
While the Class IV laser is promoted as a better option, we only use proven, safe therapy techniques on our patients.
